Visit to Sock Factory in Thailand in February 2025

In February 2025, we visited one of our Group’s suppliers, a sock factory in Thailand (Toyo Textile Thailand Co., Ltd.), to investigate its sustainability initiatives.
In accordance with our Basic Policy, we confirmed the following items and found no significant violations regarding compliance with laws and regulations, respect for human rights, occupational health and safety, and environmental conservation. The main points confirmed are as follows.

General and Compliance with Laws and Regulations
  • The company has established and is implementing policies to strengthen fair environmental, health, and safety (EHS) management and compliance with laws and regulations, including environmental policies, health and safety policies, human rights policies, anti-corruption and anti-bribery policies (business ethics).
  • The company has designated dedicated personnel responsible for EHS, human rights, and ethical issues. These personnel are aware of the importance and responsibilities of their roles and are performing their duties accordingly.
Respect for Human Rights, Working Conditions, Wages, etc.
  • A human rights policy has been established and is communicated to all employees through training and notices. All employees are required to sign an acknowledgement form.
  • All employees have an employment contract specifying their wages, working conditions, working hours, etc., in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, we were able to confirm from attendance records and wage records that the operations comply with legal requirements.
  • Recruitment is conducted directly, without the use of brokers, and health examinations required by law within 30 days of employment are conducted at the company’s expense. Age is verified through identification documents, and measures are in place to prevent child labor.
  • A complaint handling mechanism for employees is in place, allowing employees to submit anonymous complaints to the company through a suggestion box.
  • Based on interviews with management, there have been no reports of incidents involving human rights issues in the past. This was also confirmed through interviews with employees, who were randomly selected.
  • No cases of illegal dismissal have been confirmed.
Occupational Health and Safety
  • Safety policies are in place and are communicated to all employees through training and notices. All employees are required to sign an acknowledgment form.
  • A safety officer implements EHS management in accordance with laws and regulations, including reporting to the Safety Committee.
  • Annual health examinations are conducted in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Posters outlining work procedures are displayed throughout the production line, covering most operations within the line.
  • Fire prevention and firefighting equipment is properly maintained, including emergency buttons, emergency lights, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and firefighting suits.
  • Emergency response plans for accidents such as fires and chemical spills have been established, and evacuation drills are conducted every six months.
  • Evacuation route maps are displayed in easily visible locations for employees. Additionally, the premises are kept tidy and unobstructed to ensure that evacuation routes are not impeded.
  • Drinking water is always available for employees in the work area.
  • Relaxation areas are provided indoors and outdoors for employees to use during lunch breaks or other rest periods.
  • A medical room is available with medical staff on-site.
  • First aid kits are properly installed, and their expiration dates are managed.
Environment
  • The factory complies with all relevant environmental laws and regulations. During the past three years no environmental violations, complaints from nearby residents, or accidents related to the environment have been reported.
